our weekend in pictures.

This weekend was a good one. The weather was perfect – sunny days and warm evenings. On friday night we picked up Vietnamese food and brought it home to eat. Allan just finished the table top for the frame that we had, so it was our first night eating outside on the balcony this summer! The food was amazing, possibly even one of our new ‘go-to’ take-out restaurants. We also picked up some of our favourite beer from Bellwoods Brewery. We are currently enjoying Omertà, which is an orange and hibiscus pale ale – very good! Processed with VSCOcam with t1 presetOn Saturday morning we got up early and packed our bags for a day up in Muskoka. Before leaving the city, we stopped at Krispy Kreme for some road trip snacks. I gotta say, I will always choose KK over Tim Horton’s donuts. Processed with VSCOcam with t1 presetWe made a stop at the Muskoka Brewery on the way to the lake to do some tastings, and also to pick up some drinks to enjoy by the water. We chose Detour because I liked how the can looked and Allan liked the taste – win win. Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetOnce we found the perfect spot to set up, we spent the day relaxing in the sun and floating in the water. It was exactly what I had been hoping for.  IMG_6701Processed with VSCOcam with c1 presetOn the drive home we stopped at Weber’s for burgers because there was no line! And because why not? Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetOn Sunday we woke up early again, and went for a ride on Allan’s bike to one of our favourite coffee spots in the Riverdale neighbourhood of Toronto. It boarders Riverdale Park, so we brought our coffee to the park and sipped it under a big tree. Shade is key when wearing your leathers! Sunday mornings are great for rides, as the city is pretty quiet.IMG_5754My friends and I decided to try Colette, a new cafe in the Thomson Hotel on Sunday afternoon. How beautiful is it? And everything we tried was delicious. I can’t wait to go back.  Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetAnd, sunflowers for the week because they are the happiest flowers. Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

Happy Tuesday!

bar cart.

This is one of my favourite little corners of our apartment.  We got the white table from an auction that we attended in the fall just after moving in. We like that it looks a little rusty and well loved. The wood crate on top, which holds the goods, was found in Allan’s parent’s barn. He spruced it up with some stain before bringing it to our apartment. It has been fun adding things to the bar cart and even more fun making cocktails and drinks during the winter months!

Happy Monday! 🙂

It’s been a cold, cold winter this year. We can’t wait for Spring and Summer to hurry up and get here. Today was actually a nice day…0 degrees celsius – woohoo!.  So, after a week of being sick and cooped up in the apartment, we got bundled up and spent some time walking around our neighbourhood. It was snowing, which made it even better!

terrariums and tacos.

A few Saturdays ago, a few of my friends and I headed to Crown Flora on Queen West for one of their terrarium workshops. They have a small shop which they set up for classes held every so often on weekend mornings. It was just the 6 of us in the class, which was perfect and made for a fun day out! We made one terrarium in a round glass container that housed our airflow plants, and one mason jar terrarium that we planted our succulents in. Adam was such a great teacher and we had so much fun spending the morning learning from him!

After our terrarium fun, we headed east on Queen to Grand Electric for tacos and drinks! I’d say they are the best taco’s I’ve tried in Toronto so far, but then again, I think they are the only ones I’ve had, so I’ll have to get back to you on that one.

It was the perfect way to spend a Saturday with those you love!
